Hands-On, Practical Guidance

For people who want genuine time around an excavator with an experienced operator beside them — whether they are starting from scratch or want to improve existing skills.

Sessions can be tailored to the participant and may cover machine familiarisation, controls, positioning, smooth operation, digging technique, trenching, levelling, loading, site awareness and practical questions about excavation work.

Before taking payment or allowing customers to operate machinery, Dave will confirm that his business and public liability insurance cover paid operator mentoring.

Excavator Introduction — $250 Approx. 2 hours

A practical introduction for someone with little or no excavator experience. Covers machine familiarisation, controls, basic movement and positioning, bucket operation, digging technique and general safety awareness.

For someone who already has some exposure to excavators and wants to improve practical technique. Sessions can focus on smoother control, trenching, levelling, loading, positioning and general machine handling.

A more comprehensive day with Dave, tailored around the participant's experience, goals and the areas of excavator operation they most want to develop.
